The scope of work for Bess Concrete was the place and finish of four suspended studio floors totalling 3,000m2.

A specification of FF 60 and FL 75 (Floor Profile Category “Flat floor”) was specified by the client and builder for the suspended slabs. The suspended slabs were completed in four pours. Because of the high tolerances that were required, we used the Somero SXP Laser Screed, due to its ability to achieve precision concrete screeding quickly and efficiently. The high skill levels and extensive experience of our finishing crew was critical in delivering a finished product that exceeded the specification.

The combined results for the suspended slabs were FF 113.6 and FL 89.3. These results put the suspended slabs in the “Superflat” Floor Profile Category. Due to the impressive nature of the results, we submitted these slabs into the International Golden Trowel Awards, held every year at the World of Concrete Show in Las Vegas. Bess Concrete was awarded a Golden Plate for this project and in the process set a new World Record for this size and specification of floor.
