The scope of work for Bess Concrete included;

• Footings
• Retaining wall footings
• Ring beam
• Internal ground slab (105m²)
• Post tension slabs (2,750m²)
• Mezzanine slab (277m²)
• External pavements (2,777m²)

A specification of F_F 50 and F_L 30 (Floor Profile Category “Flat floor”) was specified by the client and builder for the post tension slabs. The post tension slabs were completed in two pours. Because of the high tolerances that were required, we used the Somero SXP Laser Screed, due to its ability to achieve precision concrete screeding quickly and efficiently. The high skill levels and extensive experience of our finishing crew was critical in delivering a finished product that exceeded the specification.

The combined results for the post tension slabs were F_F 104.9 and F_L 72.4. These results put the post tension slabs in the “Superflat” Floor Profile Category. Due to the impressive nature of the results, we submitted these slabs into the International Golden Trowel Awards, held every year at the World of Concrete Show in Las Vegas. Bess Concrete was awarded a Silver Plate for this project and in the process became the first company in Australia to win a prestigious Golden Trowel Award.
