The client, Kilcoy Pastoral Company, is a supplier of fine quality grass and grain fed Australian beef for the domestic and export market. This stage of the project involved the construction of a state-of-the-art freezer tunnel and beef chillers.

The scope of work for Bess Concrete included;

Footings
Retaining wall footings
Freezer and chiller structural ground slabs (2,400m²)
Freezer and chiller wear slabs (2,370m²)
Internal ground slabs for fire services building and transformer room (200m²)
External pavements (2,700m²)

A specification of 30 F_F and 20 F_L (Floor Profile Category “Conventional”) was specified by the client and builder for the freezer tunnel slabs. The freezer tunnel slabs were completed in three pours using traditional hand screeds and bullfloats. Our experienced and highly skilled finishing crew delivered a final product that exceeded the specification.

The combined results for the freezer tunnel slabs were F_F 51.34 and F_L 32.36. These results put the freezer tunnel slabs in the “Flat” Floor Profile Category.
